Europlacer Vitesse

Europlacer’s Vitesse offers the ultimate in SMT placement: hi-speed
throughput in conjunction with the flexibility afforded by mid-range
fine pitch placers. Unlike conventional chip shooters, the
Vitesse is able to place a wide range of devices, ranging
from 0402s - 50 mm 2 QFPs, at a placement rate of 20,000.

The Vitesse utilises twin placement heads, mounted on X-Y gantries.
Each head comprises 8 nozzles and a full ‘on the fly’ vision system,
for analysis of all components. The twin heads build two boards
concurrently and each of them pick from components presented in tape,
stick and waffle trays.

Europlacer’s renowned intelligent feeder technology is employed by the
Vitesse. The system can accommodate up to 198 8 mm tape feeders
and in addition to this, there are two internal waffle tray zones.
The Vitesse may also be equipped with Europlacer’s 30 channel waffle
tray sequencer.

Windows NT The Vitesse runs on a Windows NT platform and has
a comprehensive range of sophisti-cated software options.
These packages include CAD interfaces, line control balancing and
management information with respect to all aspects of machine
utilisation.

Every feeder location on the system is programmable with respect to
component type information and inventory. The feeders can, for example,
be loaded at any location on the system and the Vitesse will automatically
recognise the component type and quantity. The feeder technology is
designed to make machine set-up and changeover so fast, that it is viable
to run even the smallest of batches through the Vitesse.
